If you happen to step into
the interacting room, a large room next to our front office,
around 3 p.m. or later, you would see some of us are chatting
each other, others might be discussing science on the
whiteboard, or some people are just quietly reading newspapers
and magazines. You are witnessing a Tea Time during which
researchers, staff, and students in ASIAA gather together
to have a little break from our work. Tea Time is usually
initiated by a broadcast through the microphone in our
front office around 3 p.m. everyday, and the fun part
is that occasionally some colleagues enjoy themselves
by making Tea Time announcements on their own with various
languages since ASIAA is such a nice international institution!
Of course, tea, coffee, snacks, or sometimes fruit and
even special deserts donated by colleagues are indispensable
ingredients to create such an occasion where our people
from different groups can chat with each other and therefore
enhance mutual interaction between individuals in a very
casual manner. While the original motivation of this daily
activity is to facilitate scientific discussions among
various disciplines, most of us actually prefer to retreat
from intense work for a moment to readjust our pace and
refresh ourselves in a long working day. The Tea Time
on Friday night after the Colloquium even provides an
incredible environment for guest speakers feeling free
to exchange ideas with our researchers. Needless to say,
Tea Time in ASIAA offers a wonderful time to hold our
people together like a family. If you happen to visit
ASIAA around 3 p.m. next time, why don't you join our
Tea Time and you will be taken away by a new kind of contentment
as a result of international culture and our hospitality! |
