| If
the accretion disk around a rotating black
hole is threaded by a magnet field, The rotation
of the disk and the black hole (and hence
the spacetime) will cause the field lines
to form a helix-like structure. As matter
accretes onto the black hole, part of it is
ejected along the field lines, forming a collimated
outflow. If there are field lines connecting
the disk and the black hole, the rotational
energy of the black hole can also be extracted
to power the jet. |
